Fashion Week has moved to Paris, and the metallic trend has settled on one shade this season: gold. With the Winter Olympics just a few weeks ago, and the Oscars several days ago, this shade has been on everyone’s mind, from gold medals to Oscar statuettes. Now it appears it’s been on many designers’ minds as well. We’ve seen metallics for a few seasons now, but this season the standout has been gold. Some designers used shades of this precious metal in Milan – Max Mara used muted golds, while Emilio Pucci showed a few designs in brighter sequined and beaded gold tones. But it has been in Paris that the trend really took off. Recently Rochas and Balmain both displayed brilliant gold fabrics on a number of their designs. While Balmain focused on more fluid gold fabrics, Rochas showed some beautiful detailed brocades. It’s clear: from simple gold beading to a standout solid gold dress, this is the shade of the season.
