These Fashion Brands Are Making Masks to Combat Covid

By Lily Raine

In the challenging times the world is facing due to COVID-19, many designers are stepping up to the plate to create masks for the public, while there is a broader shortage of masks to protect Americans and healthcare workers.  Many designers are selling protective face masks and making little to no profit, while also donating masks and money to people in need. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite brands selling masks so that you can protect yourselves in public since the CDC is calling for all Americans to wear a mask anytime they leave their homes. Above all else — stay home unless you absolutely need to leave. We are all in this together to flatten the curve.

Alice and Olivia’s Stace Face mask is just $10.

Alice and Olivia are selling these cute masks ($10) with their signature “staceface” design on them. For each mask purchased from Alice and Olivia, the company will donate a mask to a community in need. The company believes that it is their shared responsibility with the public “to protect each other and reduce community transmission” by making face masks.

We are obsessed with these sequined Eugenia Kim masks.

Eugenia Kim is using deadstock fabric from their Spring 2020 collection to create these beautiful masks ($20). They are reusable so you can wear them over and over again. 5% of the sales from these masks are going to the Ronald McDonald House in New York, which is delivering meals to families that are stationed in their institutions at this time.

Buru’s mask coverings are equal parts useful and fashionable

To keep up with demand better, BURU is allowing customers to place orders for masks directly through email. They are providing masks in 4 sizes, as well as 4 colors! (Our editor actually just ordered 10 masks for her whole family, including little nephews!) The face masks are double ply, washable, and have elastic for around the ears. Each mask from BURU is $10, with $10 shipping. Best of all, a portion of each purchase will help feed hungry children.

Collina Strada has a fashionable face covering that’s flying off the shelves

Collina Strada has been based in New York City for the past 37 years and now facing a pandemic, they have turned to making face masks. While the mask they sell is for the fashionista and is one of the highest priced face masks we have seen at $100, they are also performing charity work directly helping New York City. With each mask purchase, the company will donate five masks to healthcare workers in New York City. With each non-mask purchase from their site, they will send you two free masks and donate one mask to healthcare workers. The masks are made of deadstock fabric from past Collina Strada collections. The mask fastens behind the ears with bows and includes an opening to insert a filter.
