Summer Trend Watch: Bathing Suits

By Francesca Claybrook

It’s summertime, and you know what that means – it’s time for our annual roundup of the hottest swimsuit styles out there for you to peruse before heading out to grab everything you need to look good on the sand or by the pool.

The classic triangle bikini never goes out of style, but this season this Vix Swimwear suit is a really popular option.  The thicker straps make it a little different from the hundreds of string bikinis you already have in your drawer, and the bright color is great for the beach.

A bandeau top is every girl’s go-to for getting an even tan without those annoying tan lines, so for this season why not incorporate some very now stripes?  I love this bikini by Splendid, available at Nordstrom.

The retro style of these hipster bottoms gives this Lisa Curran bikini a fresh twist.  The ties on the side are reminiscent of a classic string bikini while still giving you a little more coverage.

Monokinis are growing in popularity every year it seems.  I love the gold sequined trim on this one, fromVictoria’s Secret, although these suits come in all shapes and sizes.  The cutouts are great for your midsection, although they do create some crazy tan lines.

One-piece swimsuits have taken on a retro feel as well, like the lower cut hips on this Carmen Marc Valvo suit.  The halter strap is removable if you’re looking to eliminate tan lines, but if you need more support you can always put it back on.   Ruching is a popular trend in the latest one-pieces, which is flattering on pretty much everyone, making this a great choice for girls of all sizes.
