Anyone who hates very high stilettos is going to be thrilled to read about spring’s newest trend – flatforms. This phenomenon started on Spring 2011 runways at Alexander Wang, Michael Kors, and Derek Lam, among others. The concept is simple: it’s a shoe with a very high platform but not necessarily a very high heel (think wedge without much difference between the toe and the heel height). Lots of brands are getting in on the trend, so even if you can’t afford the Fendis (above), there’s something out there for you.
Elizabeth and James, the Olsen twins’ line, offers this shoe, which really puts me in the mood for the beach. Available for pre-order for $198.
Steven by Steve Madden also has a slip-on shoe that’s lower in height – and price at just $88.95.
I like the ankle strap on these Via Spigas, and the fact that they’re not overly tall.
And speaking of ankle straps, how adorable are these Ralph Lauren Collection espadrilles? If heels really aren’t your thing then these are the shoes for you. These ones are $295.
Even if you don’t like any of the styles pictured here, keep looking around because I guarantee you – flatforms are everywhere. This spring we’ll all set to grow a few inches.
