Salvatore Ferragamo Introduces Customizable Stilettos

By Francesca Claybrook

Imagine being able to have a custom pair of Salvatore Ferragamo shoes. Sounds pretty amazing, right? The Italian design house has just announced their newest endeavor, which will allow shoppers to do just that: the Red Carpet project, which allows women to customize their own Ferragamo shoes. This new endeavor is timed to launch with the release of The Tourist, the Angelina Jolie/Johnny Depp collaboration that was shot earlier this year in Venice. Ferragamo worked with the film’s costume designer, Colleen Atwood, to create a number of shoes exclusively for Angelina in this role, and now you too can own your own pair of custom Ferragamo shoes. There will be six models to choose from (both pumps and sandals are available), which you can get in one of 23 colors of satin. And if that’s not custom enough for you, you can even get them monogrammed. The process takes about six weeks. No word yet on which Ferragamo boutiques will feature these customizable shoes, or how much they’ll run, but we’ll keep you posted with any further information! And if you’re just interested in a classic stiletto, Ferragamo is re-releasing its classic pump, called the “Elise” (named for Jolie’s character in The Tourist) for a limited time.
