In a fashion spread for Vogue Japan, English model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looks as close to a human Barbie doll as one can get. From the big blow out to Barbie-pink lips, the model could be the closest living representation of the iconic children’s toy that there is!
The fashion world has had a long love affair with the Mattel doll. Last year, Moschino’s entire collection from Jeremy Scott was based on Barbie and the designer often pulls from the world of Barbie for his inspiration.
And, designers are just as obsessed with dressing Barbie as they are models. We love this Vogue story that says: “Since she burst on to the fashion scene in New York in 1959, she has had the personal touches of Giorgio Armani, Christian Dior, Bill Blass and Oscar de la Renta put on her sizable wardrobe. She has worn wedding gowns designed by Vera Wang and Carolina Herrera, and Christian Louboutin is designing a special pair of pink shoes for her.”
