As we head into the colder months and our tans fade (sigh) it’s time to update your color pallette and make your makeup work for you. We spoke with makeup artist to the stars, Robert Bolanos, for his tips on changing your makeup with the seasons. Q&A follows:
BellaVitaStyle: What are some of the big makeup trends we should prepare for in the colder months?
Robert Bolanos: ‘COLOR”…..whether a gray or olive eyeshadow…. to bold new lipstick shades… color in the Fall will be very Universal and not just color for the Holiday Season. Did you notice Models walking down the Runway at Paris Fashion Week wearing Orange Lipstick???
BVS: What are five items that women should carry in their purses?
RB: A great Mascara, Lip Gloss, Eyebrow Pencil, Translucent Pressed Powder, and a small bottle of oil.
BVS: What are your favorite new beauty products this season?
RB: NARS “ORGASM” ILLUMINATOR, Dior “Extase” Mascara — the brush on this mascara has different size bristles across the wand to grab every lash.
BVS: What nail polish hues will be big this fall?
RB: a taupe Grey color
BVS: The big question — Our tan is fading, can we wear bronzer in the cold months?
RB: My suggestion to wearing Bronzer in the colder months is to use a Matte Powder Bronzer with no shimmer, glitter, or liquid sheen.
A shade just above your own natural color that makes it appear as there is a little color of brown without standing out. It looks very beautiful as Blush.
BVS: You’re known for your eveybrow shaping. What’s the big trends you’re seeing there?
RB: Eyebrows are back in the “Full Trend.” Runways are showing a strong definition with eyebrows on Models. Eyebrows should never be a trend. It should always be individual and stylish to that person. It’s very much part of ones identity and face definition.
It is proven that Fuller eyebrows give a much more “Youthful” look.
