Yves St. Laurent has done it again. I love the dark grey, black and white plaid print, the thin, belts that wrap high around the waist pinching it in and drawing figure to form. There are a few misses: a boxy dress that lacks femininity, and a couple sweaters that appear too matronly, but otherwise, a stunning collection.
Where there is color: a pop of blue, an ensemble in purple, is a nice change from the monotones of black and white.
I love the cape and the sheer neckline.
The Victorian sleeves and the high waist belt make it a feminine classic. Also, the pops of color and the incorporation of the variations on chains through print are unique. I like the variation of color: blue, tan, purple, silver and bronze. They don’t fight each other against the black background of the dress and lend it to being a versatile piece.
The white numbers are classic in their design and style. The detailing with metallic jewelry gives them a regal feel. Some of the longer pieces look a bit too draped but the shorter hems and pants are nice.
