Paris Fashion Week Runway Recap: Valentino

By Francesca Claybrook

This collection from Valentino designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli was simply stunning.  I fell in love with the classic lines, simple patterns, sheer fabrics, and neutral color palate.  I can honestly say there wasn’t a single look that walked down the runway that I wouldn’t love to have hanging in my closet.  While this collection was not earth-shatteringly new or daring, these are the kind of classic pieces that always look stylish.  Let’s take a look:

I like that the off-center opening stands out on the jacket.  If it blended into the rest of the garment I don’t think it would seem so special.

There were a lot of sheer fabrics throughout the collection.  I like the combination of the sweater and skirt here, but there were a number of gorgeous dresses as well.

Neutrals had a big presence on the Valentino runway this year.  This one stood out to me because while it’s reminiscent of some of the trends that have developed over the various fashion weeks, it’s also a little different.

These little rosette details were featured on several looks.  I really like them – they remind me of a more intricate version of the polka dots Stella McCartney used the day before, which I also liked very much.
Check out the entire Valentino collection here – I hope you love it as much as I did!
