Hi from New York City where my husband and I have been self isolating since March 6th out of an abundance of precaution. Quarantine due to Covid is scary and can create tons of anxiety and boredom, but we know it’s the right thing to do to help flatten the curve. I’ve been using this time at home to focus on self improvement, whether that’s tackling the pile of books on my nightstand I’ve been meaning to read, regularly meditating, or giving my skin and hair a break.
I am proud to report that it’s nearly one month since I’ve worn any makeup r put any hot tools in my hair. My skin and hair are sighing in relief and I am enjoying the break from foundation and other product that clogs my pores. Since I’ve got nothing but time, I am doing a very intense skincare routine of my dreams and thought I’d share it with you. Below, find all of the products I use as part of my quarantine skincare regime.
Morning Routine:
Skinfix Lipid Peptide Cream: After my shower, I apply Skinfix Barrier + Lipid Peptide Cream, $50. I used to use this at night before bed because the cream is so rich and nourishing, but since I am not using foundation during quarantine, I use this in the morning now to hydrate my skin throughout the day and return lipids and other essential nutrients to my skin. It’s a refreshing cream that hydrates and feels luxurious on your face. At first I was skeptical of off the the glowing five-star reviews of this product, but after using it for months, I totally get it. This is an all-star moisturizer.
AmorePacific Moisture Bound Eye Cream: I have been swearing by eye creams with caffeine as an active ingredient for years now, because it helps with morning swelling and brightens under the eyes. This AmorePacific eye cream, $85, does just the trick and focuses on dark circles and puffiness. It’s a go-to with our without makeup!
Nighttime Routine:
Mario Badescu Dermonectin Eye Cream: I use this Mario Badescu eye cream, $20.50, daily before bed because it is so hydrating and applies so smoothly. It is an intense anti-aging cream that I am using to target some of the creeping around my eyes. I seriously look forward to this eye cream each night and sometimes even use it during the day.
Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Moisturizer: I received this Drunk Elephant moisturizer as a sample from Sephora as art of its rewards program and there’s been no turning back. I love this “clean” brand’s products and the science behind them, and find that this moisturizer is great for hydrating problem areas. It’s $68.
Jurlique Skin Balancing Face Oil: I’ve been using this Jurlique face oil for years and it lasts forever for its $68. This natural skin oil works similarly to a serum without making your face greasy. It is the last part of my nightly routine because it feels like it’s locking in my moisture and has the most glorious smell to it that relaxes me before bed. It’s almost Pavlovian at this point that once I apply Jurlique, my body begins preparing itself for sleep.
