There’s always a lot of anticipation for Marc Jacobs’ latest collection, which is only fitting for his status as one of the top American designers. This season he was all about fabric and texture, and polka dots were everywhere. The collection was done in black, white, and muted colors; the emphasis seemed to be much more on the textiles than the colors. There were also a lot of cropped jackets and long pencil skirts, and by and large most of the looks were quite fitted on the bottom, with a little more room in the tops and jackets.
I liked the shape of this dress very much, and the interest that the material gave to the garment. While this same design would look good in a plain black fabric, the textured dots give it something extra.
Polka dots really were everywhere. I like the simplicity of the black and white look, and I really want a pair of those tights.
However, this look was a little too close to actual pajamas for me (although it does look like it would be pretty comfortable).
I’m really getting into navy too these days, so I liked this look a lot.
Lace was also used quite a bit; I like how it accents the black printed fabric here without clashing.
Leighton Meester, Sofia Coppola, Fergie and Josh Duhamel, Vanessa Hudgens, Anna Wintour, and Martha Stewart were all spotted in the front row. And to see Marc Jacobs’ entire collection, just click here.
