New York Fashion Week Runway Recap: Badgley Mischka

By Francesca Claybrook

Badgley Mischka broke up their fall palate of blacks and grays with some gorgeous purple shades (like the one pictured above).   I liked a lot of the dresses, especially the more elegant slimmer cut ones, but some of the looks had extra layers of fabric that seemed more awkward than anything to me.  Badgley Mischka also introduced outerwear in this collection, which I thought was very successful.  The dress above also stood out because of the contrast between the purple and the black – I was glad the designers decided to put that black bow on the waist (it was also a nice change from all the skinny belts on the other runways).

I really liked this beautiful gray dress.

The finale dress was also stunning, and the ruffles in the front were much better done than some of the other looks.

Thanks to the shoulder detailing and the teal gloves, this look is anything but basic black.

This is one of the dresses that just didn’t do it for me.  The look is too literally ‘80s, and the extra fabric wouldn’t be flattering on many people.  Plus, the necklace looks like the neck of a turtleneck that isn’t attached to anything.
Rumor Willis (who has starred in several print ads for the company), Kelly Osbourne, and Lo Bosworth all attended the show.  See the whole collection here.
