New Trend Alert: Feathered Hair Extensions

By Lauren Ashley

What’s the latest hair trend you may wonder? Get this, feathered hair extensions – thank you Steven Tyler. Just think, one simple feather has the ability to add some pizzazz to that look you may be a little bored with (let’s be honest, it happens), and who says you have to stop at one? Short hair, long hair, red hair, blue hair…it doesn’t matter. From the long haired beauties of the Upper East Side to the mohawk hipsters of Williamsburg, anyone can rock this look.

Salon costs range from $15 to $50. At the Lance Lappin salon in Tribeca, you can get an individual feather in for $25 or a bundle of 7 for $50. Applied to your hair with micro thermal heating and cared for properly, they it can last as long as you want it to. The best part is that like any other extension you can wash, blow dry and style your hair as normal.

While you can go for a grizzly patterned feather or a solid color, a single feather or a bundle of them, my favorite combo is Jennifer Love Hewitt’s with several strands of bright patterns and solids. If you want to keep it low key you can also go for a more subtle look like that of Hilary Duff.
