New Bridal Trend: Convertible Wedding Dresses

Convertible Wedding Dress
Convertible wedding dresses give you two looks in one.

So I’m just now becoming aware of what is apparently a growing trend in wedding gowns: the convertible wedding dress. These dresses are exactly what you may think – they start out as a full-length ball gown for the ceremony and then, voila! The long skirt detaches just in time for you to party the night away at your reception.

Morgan Boszilkov also has an eco-friendly dress that goes from long to short – see it here and then let me know what you think. I’m not crazy about it, to be honest. Something about the ruffle in the middle of the long skirt just looks weird to me. David Tutera by Faviana is another designer with a convertible dress . And even really big name designers are on board this trend; Carolina Herrera has a convertible wedding dress that you can check out for yourself here.

The David Tutera gown is the most successful in my opinion, but I can’t say that I would ever have considered a convertible dress for myself. Although, remembering how hot my heavy satin dress was in North Carolina last August, maybe these designers are onto something….
