Milan Fashion Week Runway Recap: Roberto Cavalli

By Chevaun Jackson

Roberto Cavalli’s collection is like a beautiful dark twisted fantasy (perhaps he listened to Kanye West’s new album). The colors range from dark to light—black, red, white, tan— and the styles are flowing with a dark air about them. It’s like they each stepped out of a beautiful nightmare. The collection is a bit eccentric. There a heavy weight throughout the collection.

One of my favorite looks. I love the blazer and the bleed from black to red. Also, the print detailing on the bottom is an interesting feature. The pockets are practical for fall winds and give weight to the loose material.

Another favorite look. The pants have an eclectic, bohemian flare to them with the gold swirl detailing. Not too much a fan of the scarf but the fur vest adds nice texture and compliments the slight shine of the blouse.

Bird-like feathering was present on a lot of the coats, as well as jackets with a bohemian-military blend.

Scarves on the necks of every model made some appear to be choked up. I think they overdid some piece but were complimentary on others, like this one.

Animal prints were everywhere—on both pants and long dresses. They were blended or individual and came in traditional and contemporary colors.

Loose flowing dresses are combined with heavy fur shawls, prints give weight to pieces, as well as lot of layers.

Another favorite of the collection; the color is attention grabbing and the mix of prints isn’t as bust as one would think. There’s a nice flow from top to bottom and the detailing like that on the top here was also seen in many of the shirts.
