I didn’t quite know what to make of the Prada show this season. There were elements I really liked and others that I wasn’t so sure about. The vibe was more girl than woman (reinforced by the Mary Janes-and-knee socks look on many of the models). Parts of the collection also turned glam, thanks to iridescent fish-scaly fabrics that actually worked quite well.
There were a lot of dropped waists at the Prada show, like this look above. These dropped waists were sometimes an actual feature of the dress or coat, and sometimes simply created by placing a belt around the hips (like here). I have to say I much preferred the built-in dropped waists rather than the arbitrary ones.
This was the closing look, and I liked it very much. The scaly look isn’t as in-your-face thanks to the fact that the dress is just one color, allowing the iridescence to shine through. The pops of color also pair nicely with the simpler shade of the dress.
I didn’t like this version of the scales quite as much, but that might have more to do with the hat and the fact that despite the amount of orange we’ve seen on the runways, I really don’t like the color.
There were also several coats with fur collars. I think it’s safe to say that everyone will need a furry piece of some kind next fall, be it a hat, coat, scarf, or something else entirely!

I an trying to draw dress designs and was inspired by your clothing line! My dream is to become a fashion designer! I was wondering if you had any tips for me.
