Milan Fashion Week Runway Recap: Emporio Armani

By Francesca Claybrook

As someone who probably wears too much black, there’s a reason I love Armani so much.  Yet I had a hard time really loving the Emporio Armani collection as much as I wanted to, which mostly had to do with a few pairs of pants.  As someone on the shorter side of average (I’m 5’4”), things that end right at the knee can sometimes be problematic, but it seemed as though some of what Mr. Armani offered centered around the knees.  However, I did still love much of what he showed (and not all the pants were bad, of course – it’s Armani, after all).  Let’s take a look.

I like everything about this look, but what really sold it for me was the lace shirt.  Since everything is so monochromatic, the combination of different textures is really necessary and works beautifully here.

I’m not sure what to make of this look.  Are those pants that are baggy to the knee and then get skinny?  Are they baggy pants tucked into something else?  However, I do like the combination of textures here too.

With this look, I couldn’t get into the top.  Will we be wearing lopsided velvet bikini tops next fall?  I do like the blazer though.

Check out the details on this coat.  Gorgeous.
You can see the collection in full here, and we’re not done with Armani yet.  There’s still one more Armani show to go, which I will be covering for you as well.  Get excited!
