Milan Fashion Week Runway Recap: Bottega Veneta

By Francesca Claybrook

Bottega Veneta’s collection this season was packed with color.  The colorful day clothes were set off by white tights, which I did not think was a successful choice.  There were also some lace looks in the collection’s evening wear section, some that were executed better than others.  Overall my feelings towards this show were mixed – there were some looks I did like, but a lot that I didn’t.

I love the detailing at the neckline of the top, and I like its longer fit, which makes the look more relaxed.

This was one of the lace looks I did like.  The pop of orange in the clutch ties it back to the rest of the collection nicely.

I would have liked this dress if it didn’t look like its right side had decided to develop what unfortunately looks like an open wound.

I can’t decide if I like this look or not.  The jacket looks half biker jacket (which I like) and half ‘80s windbreaker (which I don’t like).  I definitely do like the way the skirt moves though.

I hate to say it, but the finale dress looks like the model was getting dressed, put her support top and her skirt on, and forgot the rest.  If the top was made of the same material as the skirt (or at least something a little more similar) I don’t think this problem would have occurred.  As it is, the look seems unfinished.
You can see the entire collection here.
