MAC Fafi Review

 

This week I will be reviewing M.A.C.’s latest collection, Fafi. There will be several installments throughout the week starting with today’s post on their eye products. First let me tell you how impressed I am with the line — it’s extremely colorful and whimsical — perfect for the spring and summer. It’s about time we made a return to color after the deep plums and blacks of the winter.

The line was inspired by Fafi, a French artist who created fun, animated “Fafi Girls.” This is how MAC describes a Fafi Girl — “A Fafi Girl is a nymphette with a Ph.D in passion — she’s an adventuress with a very animated love life! From Toulouse to Tokyo, the movie of her life is a rags-to-riches love story, an electric Technicolor dream in violet, coral and strawbaby anime.”

These Fafi girls appear on all the packaging for the line and on the actual products. I absolutely love the way the compacts look. So are you a Fafinette? After trying out the line I can say I am! So let’s start with eyes:

There are 2 MAC ‘Fafi’ Eyes quads and both are equally colorful. Fafi Eyes 1 includes: Howzat, Hey, Pink Venus and Vanilla whereas quad 2 (pictured) includes: bold as gold, You’re fresh, Shockwave and Prankster. How cute are the Fafi girls on the compact? If you’ve never tried MAC eyeshadows they are seriously the best shadows out there and this could be a good introduction product.

Paint Pots: MAC introduced 6 Paint Pots for the line. I have to say I am in love with the paint pots. I usually don’t like eye greases because they crease and wear off but this formula is completely different. The paint pot goes on like a paint but becomes eyeshadow on your lid. It’s highly pigmented so It’s very vibrant. I especially love the “cash flow” color which is a sparkly gold which works well as a base. These can also be mixed and blended with Mac’s traditional shadows.

Fluid Line and Eye Kohls:I know many people are afraid to used liquid eyeliner but the collection’s fluidline is really user-friendly and can complete a dramatic look. You’ll also love the eye kohls, available in black (my favorite) or in white, which is great to make your eyes “pop.”
