A lot of designers— DKNY, Rich & Skinny, GUESS, Bebe, Citizens of Humanity— are doing skinny cargo pants again this season. An evolution from last Fall’s amazing fitted and flattering J Brand jegging, this season the skinny cargo pant, led by J Brand Houlihan Skinny Cargo Pants, is a newer fresher twist. They look great with flats, especially gladiator sandals, or heels like wedge sandals, ankle booties or higher boots—as long as they stop before the lowest pocket. They come in a variety of styles. for even the pickiest shopper. These styles and variations include Denim, Leather/sleek look, khaki, Capri or full length, and some even have ankle zippers for added flare.
The silhouette isn’t always flattering. Things to keep in mind are that while the skinny cargo pant is great for all leg lengths, they don’t always accentuate certain leg types as desired. When too loose they appear like boyfriend pants. Skinny cargos tend to make hippier women seem wider than they really are because of their narrow build with slightly puffed pockets. To remedy this, I suggest pairing them with a longer sweater dress or tunic. For plus-sized women, they run the risk of just looking like average skinny leg jeans or jeggings.
The J Brand Houlihan Skinny Cargo Pants, which come in many colors, are $230.00 at Singer22. However, this rising trend can be found at such retailers as Bebe, Wet Seal, Saks, Bloomingdales, Victoria’s Secret, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus for less. The cost of the updated, more feminine cargo pants start at $19.99 at some retailers most start at $50. Many celebrities have been sporting the original J Brand Houlihan Skinny Cargo Pants including, Rihanna, Vanessa Hudgens, Jessica Alba, Kate Bosworth, Rachel Bilson, and Charlize Theron.
