Kate Middleton, the future Queen of England, is a style icon and master of wearing affordable fashion. The mother-of-three has been spotted in down-to-earth brands like Zara, Gap, ASOS, J.Crew, and Topshop. Sometimes more affordable clothes make the best outfits, just look at Middleton.
In contrast, The Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle dares to step up the style stakes and follows current trends, but spends a lot more money doing so.
Let’s look at the numbers: for their first solo outing with the queen Kate Middleton wore a matching two-piece outfit by L.K Bennett, which totaled $677. Meghan Markle’s first outing, which took place in 2018, was in a custom Givenchy dress that reportedly cost $18,000. Experts say that Kate spent a least $160,000 for her 2017 wardrobe costs, while Meghan reportedly spent over $1,000,000 on her 2017 wardrobe. That’s a stark contrast. And, as we’ve written before, Kate LOVES rewearing her designer pieces. (Read: Repeat Offender: Kate Middleton Wears Outfits Over Again).
