Isaac Mizrahi Launches Bridal Collection

By Francesca Claybrook

Your wedding is one of the most important days of your life, and Isaac Mizrahi wants you to entrust him with your wedding gown.  The designer recently launched a collection for the members-only wedding website The Aisle New York (so if you’ve got an upcoming wedding make sure you register).  There are six gowns in the collection, including one cocktail length dress, and rumor is there will also be handbags and jewelry to complement them.  This isn’t Mizrahi’s first foray into bridal design; he’s done a collection for Target as well as several under his own label.

Some people (me included!) might be nervous to order something as important as your wedding dress online, but the folks at The Aisle seem to be making it as easy and painless as possible:  you can get your dress customized by sending in ten different measurements, and you’ll receive the dress two weeks later.  Otherwise, dresses come in sizes 0 – 14 and range from $2,200 to $4,500.

The dresses are simple and chic, so if you’re looking for a princess dress with a big skirt you might need to look elsewhere.  Personally, I’m iffy on the cocktail length dress and wonder if the peplum style would look good on anyone other than a pencil-thin model, but overall I like the simplicity of the cuts and the interest the fabric adds to each look, like this one.  If you like what you see, make sure you mark your calendars for April 5th at 11am, which is when these babies go on sale.
