For the 2010 holiday season the make-up guru known as MAC is offering a 96-piece-strong Tartan Tale collection. Inspired, seemingly, by the kilts and plaids of Scotland, the collection is a mix of blues, reds and greens with an edgy Scottish feel — think kilts and tattoos. Included among the offerings are plaid-print felt-topped compacts in 24 different Eyeshadow Kit varieties, two lip kits, and a blush and face kit. There are also plaid and leather pouches to hold compacts, along with all manner of loose lipstick bullets, eye shadow pots, and whatever else you can fit inside. There’s quite a bit of variety in the collection from the irresistibly clannish makeup bags, to the playfully tartan pattern eyeshadows, MAC even pokes fun at the kinky part of the kilt with incorrigible kits for lips, eyes and face that have some flasher fun with mirrored compacts, but remain dignified with proper M?A?C family crests.
“A Tartan Tale”, the second chapter includes two exclusive collectable limited-edition sets packaged in a chic and reusable M?A?C Holiday tartan tin, M?A?C Glamorous and My Scottish Fling Mineralize Kits. A natural love affair with the Moorish magic of minerals that’s absolutely epic. My Scottish Fling is an immaculate pink perfection of Pink Split Mineralize Eye Shadow, Fresco Rose Paint Pot, Budding Romance Lipglass and Zoom black Zoom Lash mascara. While M?A?C Glamorous returns to its ancestral glory in the golden mineralized glow of Noble Touch Mineralize Eye Shadow, Indianwood Paint Pot, Blessedly Rich Lipglass and Zoomblack Zoom Lash mascara.
The collection also boasts two charitable initiatives: A Viva Glam lip pouch to benefit the MAC AIDS Fund and the Sir Teddy stuffed bear to benefit MAC’s Kids Helping Kids initiative.
MAC Holiday 2010 Color Collections make great gifts that prove to be seductive, cheeky and good fun. It’s a little punk, a little posh, and, it turns out, a lot high-tech. A Tartan Tale, the iPad app, is available on iTunes and allows you to live the fairy tale through a series of interactive prompts, while learning all about the makeup, of course.
