The FDA approved Lybrel, a birth control pill that allows women to skip their periods all year, earlier this week. Although that sounds amazing– no periods during the summer when you’re at the beach and no bloating and cramps throughout the year, it’s also a little odd. I mean I know many people who find their periods reassuring if you know what I mean. I also wonder about the health side effects. Doctors say that halting your period shouldn’t have any medical effects but I’ll let other women be guinea pigs before I try it for myself.
I was already thinking it was SCARY with those 4/a year period meds. This cannot be good for you. And the terrible thing is – what if they find out only a decade from now that it shortens life expectancy or increases birth defects later or something.
