Even though there was some snow on the ground during this episode, bright colors were everywhere, and in general I really liked it. The blue dress we see on Serena in the opening scene, although tight, was one of the better outfits I think I’ve seen her in because the color was so great. Blair’s yellow coat in one scene, her cobalt blue hat in another, and her red dress for the Doctors Without Borders event, as well as Lily’s bright pink silk dress, were all great colorful outfits. Meanwhile, Vanessa wore a sequined purple sweater – to class. I myself was once a student at NYU and I have to say I never saw anyone wearing such shiny clothes to a lecture. By far the strangest outfits I saw though were both worn by tall blondes to the Doctors Without Borders benefit. Serena wore a pale gray one shouldered dress with what appears to be a sequined sea creature clinging to the shoulder like some kind of giant sparkly octopus. Maybe I’m just averse to the shoulder pad trend because I myself have rather broad shoulders and don’t want to emphasize them, but this was kind of bizarre. And Jenny wore another grayish dress that would have been stunning except for a strange extra long sash that hung down far below the hem. Had the fabric been cut and worked into the dress, it would have been stunning, but as is, it looks a little awkward. With only two episodes left, I’m certainly going to miss this kind of entertainment.
