Gossip Girl Fashion Recap: “While You Weren’t Sleeping”

By Francesca Claybrook

Our favorite Upper East Siders were remarkably well-dressed this week, even if this week, like last week, everything came gift-wrapped in shiny sequins.  Blair’s first outfit was amazing (as was the scene of Dorota dressing her).  I love the dress she has on, and while I prefer it without the blazer, she still looks pretty great.  Serena looked good as well, although I wasn’t sure about the combination of the cowl neck of her sweater with the blazer she had layered over it – sure it looks good if the blazer is unbuttoned, but how would it look if she wanted to button the jacket?

Serena’s party outfit was also a good one.  I loved the blouse, and I liked the skirt – even if I thought it could have used a few more inches on the end.  Can’t all of Serena’s skirts use a few more inches on the end?  I also think I prefer her blazer to Blair’s.  Even Vanessa showed up to Eric’s birthday party looking good.  The only problem I had with her outfit was her scarf, which luckily she wasn’t actually wearing until the very last shot we see of her.

Blair’s party outfit was gorgeous, and kept with the shiny metallic trend GG has going on.  Even with her two mismatched shoes (by the way, I love that Blair has enough shoes that she owns two nearly identical but not quite the same pairs which could then be mixed up – by Dorota, of course), she looked good.  Blair’s new best friend Dan also dressed particularly well this episode – although nowhere near Chuck Bass in terms of style, it seems his new relationship with Blair is rubbing off in the style department.
