Gossip Girl Fashion Recap: The Witches of Bushwick

By Francesca Claybrook

So after complaining last week that the characters are relying on blazers too much as their only outerwear option, what’s the first thing I see this week?  Serena’s blazer.  Well, technically I first saw the absolutely amazing Venn diagram Eric and Elliot were making to help Serena figure out her love life, but then I saw her blazer.  However, I did like the pearls on the lapel, and while I didn’t think I should like it paired with a sequined sweater dress, I kind of did.  Jenny also hopped on the sequin trend; I liked her black sequined striped sweater.  I’m glad that since her return to Hudson, she’s been a little less intense and the eyeliner has toned down a bit.  Blair wore a very on-trend lace patterned dress to start out the episode, which I liked.  She then stripped to her bright red slip and went to Chuck’s masquerade ball in it, a move that requires serious guts.  (At first I wasn’t sure if it was actually her slip, or just a slip dress, but after multiple people referred to her as being in her underwear, I assume it was indeed her slip.)  While I’m not so sure how I feel about her wearing it to a party (even if it has a saints and sinners theme), I suppose it’s pretty nice as far as slips go.  I also think I liked Serena/Juliet/Jenny’s dress for the ball, although I don’t feel like I ever got a really good look at it.  The color was beautiful.  And kudos to Dan and Nate for really turning up the style fac
