If this week’s Gossip Girl episode is any indication, we’ll be wearing florals this spring. Keep an eye on how these characters kept the look contemporary though – floral prints can easily turn into something that looks like you stole it from your grandmother’s closet, and not in the chic, vintage way. One good way to do that is to keep the piece structured and in bold colors, a la Blair’s red and black dress. I also really liked Chuck’s long-lost mother’s dress; the metallics kept the dress new, even though the style was classic. Serena rocked a big spring trend as well, one that we brought to you a few weeks ago – the cutout dress. I also liked Vanessa’s party dress. Finally we see her wearing something that takes advantage of her amazing figure. Although when I first saw it I thought the dress was kind of lacy, to be honest after further examination I’m not sure what the pattern is exactly. And finally, a few frustrations with the costume designers. One, can I point out that Rufus wears variations on the exact same sweater every week (occasionally swapped for a plaid shirt of some sort)? Let’s get him a Chuck Bass makeover. And two, Jenny’s school “uniform” no longer resembles a uniform at all. Perhaps it’s too late to ask for a little reality?
