So apparently this was the season finale of Gossip Girl (I somehow kept thinking it was going to be the second to last episode) so of course it was full of drama, but in terms of fashion I thought it was something of a letdown. First, I kept fixating on the plaid shirts. It would seem that the Humphrey aesthetic has taken over the Upper East Side, because the male characters are all wearing plaid these days. Luckily, Chuck Bass remains a holdout – the day I see him in plaid flannel, I might have to stop watching the show.
The most interesting fashion juxtaposition I saw during the entire episode is shown in the picture above. I feel as though it completely represents each character: Serena and Blair, best friends with fashion tastes as divergent as their personalities. Each girl is wearing an outfit that seems to embody her essence – Blair looks like she’s headed to a PTA meeting or to plan a fundraiser, while Serena looks like she’s on her way to a nightclub, or maybe the prom. I’m excited to see what these girls wear in Paris next season, because I’m sure it’s going to be amazing. (Want more details about their trip to France?
