Looking for the perfect gift for the book-loving fashionista in your life? There are a bunch of great fashion books and style guides out right now that can be a good fit. My first recommendation is “Influence” by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. I’ve only read bits and pieces of it but from what I’ve read it’s really good. I like how they intersperse prose with lots of pictures and collages that pull from pics of the twins from their past, current pics as well as fashion icons and items that have helped them create their personal styles. It retails for $35.
One of my personal favorite books is “Chanel and her world, Friends, Fashion and Fame” For those of you who don’t know Gabrielle Coco Chanel’s past, she has quite an interesting, and sad, history. This book gets into her upbringing at an orphanage, her unconventional designs, and her rise to fame. It also has absolutely gorgeous pictures and illustrations. I got it at the Met’s exhibit of her early designs, but you can get it on Amazon for $37.
Lastly Christian Dior’s “Little Dictionary of Fashion” is chock-full of tips from the man, the myth, the legend, Mr. Dior. And although the book was written years ago, his advice is timeless and classic.
i cant get enough of the MK&A book! one of my all time favorites !
