The best time of the year has come to an end – Fashion Week. Fashion Week holds two showcases a year in Milan, Paris, London, and New York twice a year, with its closure just having passed. Street style, celebrities, models, and venue are the important accessories to fashion week. Every designer puts on their show like never before, wanting this season’s collection to be one of their best to date. All designers put on their show, designing their venue, model order, all looks, and seating. Creating an experience for the audience is news-worthy, and their collection can speak itself. Here are our top picks from the Spring/Summer 2019 Fashion Weeks in Milan, Paris, London, and New York. (Head over to our earlier New York Fashion Week post for more trends in the big apple)
Milan
Patterned suits were a look to take note of this past Fashion Week in Milan, Italy. This fascinating trend was something we were surprised of, but this European trend hit the runway and made its statement. Many designers had shows in Milan, like Giorgio Armani, Marni, Missoni, Salvatore Ferragamo, but two designers caught out attention with this trend.
Dolce & Gabbana and Etro nailed their suits on the runway. These designers took at look at their customer base and brought their audience’s styles to life. Dolce & Gabbana focused on metallic shades, as they paid attention to their customer base’s wants and needs. Etro went for a floral print, with the entire suit being light-shaded and the collar being black. These are European trends that can be made on the red carpet, as well as a fancy event.
Paris
White was a reoccurring look in Paris. Many designers had their shows in Paris this season – Miu Miu, Giambattista Valli, Sacai, and Givenchy, but the ones that did this trend the most were Chanel and Jacquemus. These designer has their shows be a full on experience for its audience.
Chanel had their show on a beach, where the models walked on sand and straight in front of them was a wooden dock. Jacquemus had their show at a light colored brick and stone castle. Models walked down light gray stairs onto a white shiny runway, as it was outside in the early evening. The white trend featured in these two designers’ shows represents and collaborates well with their venues. These two looks can be worn either at night or during the day. They scream spring and summer.
London
Accessories are always included in runways shows, however the designers this season really took a step up with the small handbags. Not every look had one, but Roksanda and Peter Pilotto’s shows each had many small uniquely shaped bags. Each of these designers had at least three bags in their collections, as they were oddly shaped with tacked on accessories. Roksanda’s bag can be held on either side when grabbing onto the large rings, with no strap connection.
Peter Pilotto’s bag is a small ball, covered in different colors and pearl like stones. These were trends that I noticed while I was in Europe as well, and they made their strong statement on the runway this season.
New York
Blazers are reoccurring trends that happen every season, but in New York there was an overwhelming amount of them seen on the runway. This classic look appeared in Marc Jacobs’ and Calvin Klein’s shows the most this season, pairing it with a mermaid-like dress and a skirt. Blazers can be dressed up or dressed down, which makes them a stable piece to your wardrobe. The inspiration behind a blazer being extremely oversized, as in 10 sizes too big, is to coexist with the “large” trend. Now-a-days, people want to wear oversized clothing, and this trend in their collections has been spoken from their customers.
