Fashion for a Cause: Japan

By Alex Valenzuela and Francesca Claybrook

The recent headlines in Japan have us all reeling and wondering what we can do, and luckily the fashion community is stepping up to help out. For a limited time, a lot of our favorite designers and stores are donating proceeds of certain products to the relief efforts in Japan. Here’s a roundup of some of the best ones:

This bracelet from Lady Gaga’s website says “We pray for Japan” in both English and Japanese.  It’s only $5 and 100% of the proceeds go to the relief effort, pick yours up here.

Rebecca Minkoff has also stepped up to the plate:  $100 from every red bag purchased on her website will go to the Red Cross.  See the full selection of Japan Relief bags here.

Elektrek Clothing plans to donate 100% of profits from their specially-designed “I love Japan” t-shirt, and 50% of all other profits, to the Red Cross.

Hide and Seek Clothing is also selling a custom t-shirt , with 100% of the profits intended for Save the Children, Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund, Hands On Tokyo, and the American Red Cross.

We’ve also been encouraged to support Japanese brands like Uniqlo.  Click here to read about their efforts to help the victims, including planned Red Cross donation boxes in their stores where you can make a contribution.
