This season’s trends include military inspired garb, leather and lace. The military look this season is a bit more toned down as designers turn away from the obvious classic, ranked look of military wear and turn to more subtle accents like brass buttons, cargo pants, high-waisted slim belts, military greens and navies, and shoulder pads —if you’re thinking Michael Jackson you’d be on the mark. Leather, though nothing new like military inspired pieces, makes a comeback as it does every autumn. It is a staple after
all. However, the difference this year is that it develops from the creeping trends of past years to not only be restricted to coats and jackets. This year it can be seen in leggings, skirts, dresses, shoes (though leather is not as popular as the rising fur/faux fur trend)— it’s everywhere. Lace and antique inspired cut outs also grace many pieces this year in the fall. Although the extra skin exposure would seem a pit impractical it adds that sexy flare and with the amount of layers, high socks, and leggings out there there’s no reason not to be sensuous beneath layers.

This season is like a grab-bag of the past with inspiration from the 60s, 70s, military. It’s a return to classic style with modern twists like lace, cut outs, and leather infusion.
