In the early 2000s, French fashion house Christia Dior came out with a spring bag that soon became popular. This bag was known as the Saddle bag designed by John Galliano. It soon became the “it bag” that celebrities wore to make a statement, but after a decade or so in fashion, it seemed to disappear off of the face of the earth. Not so fast.
Cut to this year when the iconic bag made a famous comeback during fashion week. Fans couldn’t wait to hit their Instagram feeds with updates on their new accessory. The bag had made appearances on the arm of Sarah Jessica Parker during her role as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex in The City. Then it made its way around to Paris Hilton and many others. Now it is back again all over Instagram. Instagram’s influencers have taken the bag and used it to show their own unique style, likely as part of a coordinated effort by Christian Dior to create buzz around its new releases. Celebrities have also picked up on the bags return, some are Beyoncé and Kourtney Kardashian also models like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid have been spotted wearing the Saddle bag. We love this classic black Dior Saddle bag, $3,800 as well as this logo Dior saddlebag (which we have owned since college! Talk about timeless. It’s $3,950)
The Saddle bag doesn’t have a limit to color or pattern. You can’t buy them on the Dior website as of just yet, you can only find it at boutiques. The bag comes in its regular size but also in a mini version. It shows on the website that you can mix and match the bag with a different colored, patterned, or embroidered canvas strap. Back in the early 2000’s the bag was made in denim, silk or leopard print and had a chain like strap to it. The bag has many different variations and patterns to fit anyone’s style. This bag covers all the trends you can think from logos to patches to minimalist. This fad might just stick around longer than its first run.
