January 2014: Lupita Nyong’o Becomes Star of the Red Carpet
In January, Lupita Nyong’o burst onto the scene as a red carpet darling at the Golden Globe awards in a stunning red Ralph Lauren dress. The 12 Years a Slave actress well relatively unknown on the fashion circuit, but this look, and subsequent numbers, made her the most anticipated star on the carpet in 2014.
Cara, Cara, Cara
2014 was the year of British model Cara Delevingne, who was seemingly the face of every major fashion house. Cara was a breath of fresh air, with a wacky personality and striking eyebrows. Burberry, Mulberry, Chanel & other brands jumped to sign the Brit up.
June 2, 2014: Rihanna’s See-Through Dress
When Rihanna wore a see-through sequined dress by Adam Selman to the CFDA awards this summer, it sent shockwaves through the fashion community. The jury is still out whether the dress was a hit or miss, but it was definitely a noteworthy ensemble.
