2010 has been quite an eventful year in the fashion industry. Here is a list I compiled of the top 5 fashion stories of 2010.
1. Loss of Alexander McQueen
Legendary fashion designer, Alexander McQueen, took his own life on February 11th, just days before his presentation of Fall 2010 collection. This was a huge loss for the fashion industry in that McQueen was one of the most influential designers in history. His death was devastating for any fashionista and will always be remembered as an incredible designer and human being.
2. Women’s Wear Daily celebrates 100 years!
Iconic fashion industry newspaper Women’s Wear Daily celebrates 100 years in 2010! They released a celebratory issue with pictures and articles throughout the years and even held a party to celebrate the anniversary!
3. Heartthrob Prince William and Kate Middleton engagement, wedding dress designer speculation!
After years of dating and breakups, Prince William and Kate Middleton finally are set to the tie the knot in April of 2011 and the question arose as to who will be the designer that gets to design her iconic wedding dress.
4. Lady Gaga wears jaw dropping meat dress.
Lady Gaga shocks us again as she wears a dress made of entirely meat to the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.
5. Fashion Week leaves Bryant Park
After years of Fashion Week being held at Bryant Park, it calls Lincoln Center its new home! This was a huge step up for the fashion industry as well.
