Best Dressed at Cannes

By Francesca Claybrook

With the Cannes Film Festival kicking off we thought we’d get a jump start on all the fashion by giving you the best-dressed stars from the first few days of the event.  Who made the cut?

Rachel McAdams – Rachel has attended a few events so far and while I think her other choices were not too successful, I really liked this Maxime Simoens Spring 2011 Couture dress.  The white looks so fresh and summery – perfect for Cannes.  Plus it’s hard to pull off hip embellishments like those without looking oversized, so bravo to Rachel for looking so good.

Uma Thurman – White is a big color this year (isn’t it always during the summer?), and Uma Thurman followed the trend in this gorgeous Versace gown.  I’m glad she delivered a dose of glamour on the carpet.  How long and lean does she look?  It’s amazing.

Karolina Kurkova – Speaking of glamour, who looked more glamorous than Ms. Kurkova?  I am in love with this blue Armani Prive gown.  It fits her perfectly, and the deep royal blue is gorgeous with her coloring.

Diane Kruger – The German bombshell shone (literally!) in this gorgeous Calvin Klein gown.  I like the growing trend of simple red carpet gowns, which Calvin Klein does really well, and this is an outstanding example in a beautiful, on-trend metallic.  My only problem is that it’s a tiny bit too tight, but when you

Salma Hayak – Salma got a loooot of press for the unusual red Gucci dress she wore to the photocall for her new film Puss In Boots, but I think this metallic gown (also by Gucci) deserves more recognition because it’s just beautiful.  Like Karolia Kurkova’s dress, this one is perfect with Salma’s coloring and it fits her perfectly.
