Orange will be everywhere next fall it seems. First Sass and Bide, and now Matthew Williamson, although the latter mixed orange in with a lot more grays and blues, like in the look above, which I really liked. You’d also better get your furs ready, because they’re going to be a staple next fall as well.
Williamson showed several looks with geometric prints; the look above is one of the instances in which I think it worked. Done in neutral colors over a small area, it doesn’t overwhelm the entire outfit but instead provides some interest.
This look (the opening look) wasn’t as successful. The cut of the vest (at least, I think it’s a vest) is much too big for the model’s frame. If it’s not flattering on her, imagine what it would look like on the rest of us.
Did I already mention furs are everywhere? But check out this coat – the fur is on the inside, and the outside has sequins. Williamson also showed a lot of fur scarves, which I am a big fan of.
I also really liked this long dress. It’s elegant and the chiffon is very on-trend, and there’s something interesting going on, but I can’t tell what it is exactly – is it a chiffon cape? As I typed that I realized that a chiffon cape is something to which I feel like I should be opposed, but here I’m just intrigued. And I am operating under the assumption that this is in fact a dress, although these days with all the jumpsuits people are showing and the return of the wider leg, I’m never too sure of myself. If I discover this is in fact a jumpsuit, I think I might have to revise my opinion because I must say I myself am anti-jumpsuit (do they actually look good on anyone? Honestly?)
