New York Fashion Week Runway Recap: Christian Siriano

By Francesca Claybrook

Ahhhh…Fashion Week is finally here!  Project Runway alum Christian Siriano kicks off the week with lots of black and lots of textures.  Just like in the couture shows, sheer fabrics were prevalent here (his first few models went down the runway in sheer pants and blazers), as were bold textures (scroll down for a look at a show-stopping skirt).

Wide-leg trousers are definitely making a comeback, and Siriano showed several pairs like these gorgeous gray pants, pictured.  They really look like they move beautifully.

If you’re looking to take inspiration from the runway to inject your wardrobe with a little glam, the simple black turtleneck and ruffled skirt combo is a perfect example of a runway-ready look that can be easily adapted to your own wardrobe.

Siriano also showed pieces in olive green and mauve, like the amazing skirt pictured here.  I love the combination of the intricate, voluminous skirt and the simple loose blouse.

This dress is my pick for most likely to be seen on a celebrity (and also my pick for dress I’d most like to wear to any upcoming events!)
Siriano’s front row included It-girl Alexa Chung, Gabrielle Union, and Mena Suvari.  To see his complete Fall 2011 collection, click here.
