We recently took some time in Amelia Island, Florida to get some sun and relaxation and while we were in town, we had some really amazing meals. Read on for our guide to Amelia Island’s best restaurants.
Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro: Dinner at Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro is truly a treat. This high-end steak and seafood restaurant serves up some really delicious food and drinks in a cozy setting.
We sampled a lot of the menu on a recent Saturday night, trying the tuna martini, spinach, orange and macadamia salad and the grilled filet mignon oscar. We also had several dirty martinis, which were the perfect proportion of vodka and olive juice. The tuna martini was just amazing. It had pieces of tuna tartare in a martini glass with the most amazing sauce on it and avocado. The steak was flavorful and cooked to perfection.
Joe’s 2nd Street Bistro is the perfect place for a date night or night out with friends. It’s in the middle of Amelia Island’s town, so there are a number of great bars and ice-cream parlors nearby after, as well.
Le Clos: If you are looking for exceptional French food in a romantic setting, Le Clos is the spot. The restaurant is set in a beautiful, yellow cottage in the center of Amelia Island town with a white picket fence and overflowing flower boxes. Once you step in, ithas a French shabby chic and intimate vibe to it and is lit by candlelight.
We started the meal with the Le Clos salad which may be the best salad I’ve ever had. The description is simple, but the flavors were really amazing because of the beets and sun-dried berries. We then shared the duck, which had a beurre blanc sauce and whipped potatoes and mushrooms. This was also exceptional.
Bob’s Steak and Chop House: On our final night in Amelia Island, we had a giant dinner at Bob’s Steak and Chop House on Amelia Island Plantation. Bob’s is the quintessential old school steak house. Think lots of mahogany, wine cellars filled with red wine and overflowing giant martini glasses.
We started with dirty martinis and a salad to share, then moved onto individual steaks. I had the petite filet and my boyfriend had the bone in ribeye. The steaks came with the most enormous carrot I’ve ever eaten in my life. and mashed potatoes, but we got greens instead.
Amelia Tavern: If you’re looking for a more relaxed night out, Amelia Tavern is a great spot for lunch or a casual dinner. This restaurants has sports playing on the televisions and a fun atmosphere for sharing plates. We had the giant pretzel and other small bites for lunch with some cocktails. We then walked around the town, which is super cute, popping into bookstores and other shops.
