Early on, natural beauty products often left beauty gurus skeptical. Their natural aroma, their textures, and even their hefty prices leave many people hesitant on whether to buy them. Instead, most often opt for the brand names that they’ve heard before. Spending sometimes up to hundreds of dollars on overly processed products that overpower your skin, have a strong or chemical-like odor, or sometimes don’t even work as well as they claim to. These pointers lead us to wonder if they’re even worth it. Not only are they hit or miss, but it makes us wonder about how many additives are going into these pint-sized, hundred-dollar tubes of chemical goop claiming to cure our insecurities by tomorrow. I know I have read the back of a handful of my skin products before applying them and the long and overly-complicated names of some of the ingredients sounded quite questionable.
That brings us to this article where we will be shining a light on some of our favorite and top-rated natural beauty products. Our editor has been on a natural-beauty kick because she is doing IVF, and one of the measures to success is eliminating toxins from beauty products, cleaning products and other areas, but going natural is healthier for everyone, whether you are trying to conceive or not. Green and Gorgeous Organics Dry Shampoo – $29.99
Dry shampoos are usually a hit or miss, especially the ones found at beauty stores. Not all of them cater to the same hair types and could leave your hair feeling heavy or dry out your scalp as the product flakes up. Green and Gorgeous Organics is a brand that specializes in creating natural and eco-friendly products for all types of hair. This dry shampoo caters to specifically oily hair. Although it’s great of any hair type, this powder product will abolish any signs of greasy locks. It’s cruelty free, vegan, organic, and non-GMO verified.
Kindred Black Fat and the Moon Dry Shampoo – $14
Everyone starts somewhere with improving the quality of their beauty products, and if the first dry shampoo is slightly out of your budget then have no fear, because this one is just as great for a lower price. Washing your hair everyday will dry out your hair and scalp, which is why it’s important to invest in a quality dry shampoo. This one will absorb the built-up oils out of your hair without leaving it looking flat. The light brown color will mesh to any shade and the cocoa smell is to die for. The ingredients are directly from the earth: arrowroot starch, cocoa powder, kaolin clay, and lavender essential oil.
Inika Certified Organic Liquid Foundation with Hyaluronic Acid – $49
Finding the foundation that works with your skin type is no cake walk, or should I say cakey foundation walk? Chemically produced foundations tend to leave skin looking cakey and plastered on. For most foundations found at beauty stores, avoiding the cakey look involves a laundry list of other products that are highly suggested to buy to make the product glide on effortlessly. Luckily, there are natural products like Inika that won’t disappoint or require you to blow your budget on the never-ending list of primers and setting sprays. The main ingredients are green tea, argan oil, and lavender. With such fresh ingredients like that, your skin will feel refreshed and clean.
Salty Girl Beauty Foundation – $42
Much like Inika, this foundation won’t leave a caked or crease-like look after applying either. It’s all natural, 90% organic, has natural sun protection, gluten free, vegan, and non-GMO. Rosemary, Shea butter, and rice are some of the oh-so-natural ingredients in this product. The only drawback of this product is that there are only nine shades, and they seem to dater to those with fair or tan skin. I think if this product included a wider variety with darker shades, they would be on the right path.
Vapour Organic Beauty Atmosphere Soft Focus Foundation – $54
Out of the foundations, I think Vapour’s might be my favorite. Their endless variety of foundations caters to all skin colors and the medium coverage is an excellent feature to assure that the foundation will glide on smoothly without caking up. It’s rich with antioxidants and caters to all skin types, so whether your skin is dry, oily, or in between, this product will work wonders for you. Vapour even includes a chart on their website to help you pick which product will be best for your skin! This products will enhance your natural glow and bring out the best in your skin.
Primally Pure Unscented Deodorant – $14
Natural deodorants are one of the most questioned natural products. When it comes to hygiene and fighting against body odor, no one wants to take a chance with natural products. That’s understandable, considering that we’re all so used to chemically produced deodorants that have fought against our odors for years. Give Primally Pure a chance, with their fresh ingredients such as grass-fed tallow, fair trade coconut oil, arrowroot powder, beeswax and essential oils. The deodorant will glide on gently, not burn your skin, and do the job of battling unwanted odors.
Tom’s of Maine Unscented Deodorant – $4.49
Tom’s of Maine deodorant is a bit more commonly known because it’s sold at Walmart and Walgreens. For only $4.49, you could get an all-natural deodorant that’ll leave you feeling fresh and sweat free. Some of the ingredients include organic aloe leaf juice, propylene glycol, and water. This brand also has a variety of scents. Overall, if you’re trying to swap out your chemically-based products for some natural ones but don’t have the funds to spend $15+ on deodorant, Tom’s is a great option!
Primally Pure Fancy Face Serum – $48
Primally Pure strikes again with their natural and promising products, but this time with their Fancy Face Serum. Implementing a quality face serum in your skin care routine is important, especially for those with oily skin. Serums are lightweight moisturizers and won’t clog pores like the typical moisturizer. The issue with most serums is that they’re loaded with a high amount of chemically-based products. Even if your skin reacts well to chemically-based serums, having your pores absorb so many chemicals isn’t the best for your skin. The key components of this serum are Tamanu oil, pumpkin seed oil, seat buckthorn oil, argan oil, pomegranate seed oil, cypress essential oil, carrot seed essential oil, helichrysum essential oil, and lemon essential oil for brightening skin and reducing pore sizes.
